Today is soleminity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Also known in my household as “Mama Mary’s Birthday”. Of all places, Universty of Dayton has a great writeup here.
UPDATE: This post is getting a lot of play today on the Vigil of the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I’d like for everyone to keep in mind that while Mary is the perfect example of the fruits of Christ’s suffering and passion and also our spiritual mother given to us as such by Christ while on the cross, she is not God. She is worthy of praise and veneration, but not that worship we should only give to God. She is an intercessor at her son’s ear, but only he and his appointed minsters have the authority to forgive sins. Let all keep this in mind. God bless everyone!
Also, I’d like to point out that I was wrong in saying Jan 1st was her birthday. It is of course Sep 8th.

Happy birthday, Mama Mary. You may not be God in the eyes of others, but for many of us, you are the greatest saint and the best mother of all.
You were always there when I am in my darkest hour. I remember when I was hospitalized due to severe dehydration and the doctors couldn’t find anything wrong, the first thing I did was to go see you as soon as I was released from the hospital. There, in the church, when I look at you, I was overwhelmed with your love for me, I almost hurt and cry. I was trembling not because I am still weak but because your overflowing love for me was too much to bear and I was overjoyed and ashamed because I felt, I do not deserved such love.
Also, you showed yourself in my dreams, when I ask for something like wanting to have a child, you said, “My child, now is not the time, I will give you one in your next life.” You showed a baby boy to me and I was more than glad to obey. Maybe that’s why you love me so much because I am an obedient servant and I never questions your will or words. I knew it came from our Father, so I must obey without question.
There’s a lot more I could tell the world, of your generosity and kindness to me. Even though I have sinned, you still intercede for me to Father and Jesus, your son.
I can never thank you enough for loving me always.

Life has been tough these last couple of months Dear Lady, but due to my own choices, but having complete Faith and Trust in your Son Our Lord Jesus has saved me.
