What’s been going one at this “Wild Tangents” place?????

Well, I don’t know if either of you have noticed, but there’s been some weird things gong on at “Wild Tangents”. The name keeps changing. The feed keeps changing. The theme keeps changing. Well, the truth is I wanted a change after the new year. I wanted to leave behind the “thicke.org” address and claim something new. I have learned a lot in the past year about blogging (apparently not enough, eh Mark?). I wanted to put what I have learned to good use and start over fresh. So from now on “www.thicke.org” will be frozen in time. This will be the last post there. If you are seeing this from that address, feel free to look around. The archives will always be open. If you want to see the latest and greatest I have to offer, take a look at my new place “www.wildtangents.net“. If you’re already at Wildtangents, well…I guess you’re already there.

To answer a few questions….

First, you will not have to change any email addresses. I will still have all the same addresses. No feed subscriptions will need to be changed. If you are subscribed to to the feed at feedburner or thicke.org, you are not subscribed to the new Wild Tangents feed. you didn’t have to do a thing. Wasn’t that easy?

I would ask that if you are linked to me that you change the address. Since you’re link is on your own site though, you may feel free to do what you want.

Keep in mind that the “About” page and the “Current Status” page on the new site are both unfinished. I expect to never finish either of them as they are both works in progress. Check back on them often.

I’m really excited about this change. But, don’t expect the frequent short posts I used to make. I plan to put a little more though and effort into posts. That will make them a little less frequent. I also have two other web projects I will be working that will take up some of my time.

    I found your link through CS’s. I am new at this, but not new to Catholocism though. Come from a long line of friday fish eaters, or friday macky cheese eaters. Tell me, what is “feed”? A different kind of link?

    A feed is a way of subscribing to certain websites or other sources of information that get updates frequently without having to keep checking the website with your web browser (Internet explorer, firefox, etc.). I provided a link to

    An except:

    “RSS” stands for Really Simple Syndication, Rich Site Summary, and/or Rockdale, Sandow, and Southern (Railroad) (if you trust the good folks at AcronymFinder.com). Really Simple Syndication is probably the most widely agreed-upon choice. As far as we are concerned, all three acronyms do an inadequate job of describing what RSS actually is: RSS is a standard for publishing regular updates to web-based content. Using this standard, Web publishers provide updates, such as the latest news headlines or weblog postings. Meanwhile, consumers use RSS reader applications (or one of a growing number of online services) to collect and monitor their favorite feeds in one place (RSS content from a publisher, viewed in one of these readers, is often called a “feed”).

    If you’ve seen the little orange buttons that say “RSS” or “XML”, or the ones like on here at Wild Tangents with the little waves flowing out toward the top right of the box, those sites provide this service.

    While not everyone provides somethat looks as fancy as mine in a web browser, you can get an idea of what they look like by clicking on the link for my feed provided below.
