The new Doctor Who series is getting picked up by the Sci-Fi channel

This is really good news indeed. I’ve really grown attached to this show that’s turned out so great, even though it was a little slow to start. After watching the Christmas special, I’m really excited David Tennant taking over the role. To be honest, the actor who started it, Christopher Eccleston was not exactly my favorite doctor.

SCI FI Channel announced Jan. 12 that it will air the first season of the BBC’s hit SF series Doctor Who, starting in March. The 13 episodes, starring Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, will air as part of SCI FI Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

If you haven’t seen it yet, watch it. It’s a great show. You won’t be disappointed. If you have seen and live in the US, watch it again to show your support. The only bad thing I’ve found is that sometimes Mr. Davies seems to want to push a subtle homosexual agenda. He needs to realize this is a Sci-Fi classic and not “Queer as Folk”. Let’s not make it so preachy…

Yes, I agree. Good show, but marred a bit in the end. I just watched it straight through and I was struck by two things. The first half was overshadowed by a lot of anger from the Doctor as he seemed prepared to kick Rose out at any turn. At the same time he seemed not only prepared, but all too willing, to resort to violence and kill anyone who got in his way. This seemed to soften as the season went on, thankfully, but was unfortunately replaced by an increasing homosexual overtone, which I found very distracting and troubling. Sexuality of any kind really just seems out of place in Doctor Who, a show built on the premise of a usually old man travelling about with mostly young underdressed post-adolescents. It really is not the tone to start introducing. And to be frank I really cannot enjoy preachy homsexual shows of any kind whatsoever.

But, all inall, a very good show which I will watch on the SciFi channel just to support. At least they are picking it up, and that is good.
