It’s been six years now since I have taken a paper 1040 and done my taxes without any help. Since then I have used various software to prepare my taxes including bot TurboTax and TaxAct. I’ve been happy with TurboTax and used it again this year. I actually did my taxes on my lunch break after getting my final w-4. I used the online version of TurboTax which can get to here. They make it very easy to get everything ready for online filing or filing through the mail. What used to take me well over an hour now takes 15, 20 minutes tops. Plus, if you file online you get your refund usually in two weeks. You can’t beat that with a stick.
I’ve heard stories of it catching things that other people might have missed to increase the refund amount, but it’s never happened to me. In the end though it really does make things easier, especially for someone with my issues on concentration. With TurboTax, you’re finished before you have a chance to even loose focus. I highly recommend it. To be honest, I think this is just a preview of the things we’ve got coming in the future from the web. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.
