Isn’t it funny the way things change?

It’s a weird thing. Right now, you may or may not know I am working on a project out in California. One really good thing about the project is the project manager. We have a great project manager who has secured for us very cheap hotel rooms. These rooms include a kitchenette, so we’ve been spending some time in the grocery store. This is a great thing, because I have unfortunately gained some weight since starting this job, instead of continuing to loose some like I was before. I guess the meals at Fridays and Chillies wasn’t the best for someone trying to shed some pounds. So it’s a good thing we’re able to grocery shop. I can eat a better diet. Hopefully I’ll also be able to start exercising again. I might be a little behind on my New Years resolution, but I am getting back on track.

Anyway, I told you all of that in order to explain why I was in the grocery store here in Campbell, CA today. While I was there, I watched a young man walk up to the hot dogs and stare at them in bewilderment. I could almost hear him thinking, “Which ones are the good ones?” I have often done the same thing, and not just with hot dogs. I can remember the days when there were two kinds of hot dogs, the ones that tasted good and the ones that didn’t. But what happened? Now there’s a virtual plethora flavors of hots dogs. Some of them not even made from meat. What happened indeed? Like I said too, it not just hot dogs. How many different flavors of Dr. Pepper do we need? Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper when I start to miss that awful cough syrup my mom used to give me when I was five. But that’s really only because I like to reminisce.

I suppose it’s not all bad. I do like the Tropical Twist flavor of Trident much more than that nasty bubblegum flavor that leaves your mouth tasting like used tire rubber. I also prefer the DiGiorno thin crispy crust over the original rising crust they are known for. But is that the name or not. DiGiorno is a Kraft brand. If you visit their website you have areal hard time finding products you’re looking for, just like the grocery store.  You can’t see the tree for the forest, or something like that.
