I can’t really tell listening to my self talk, but I have heard others comment on my accent when I’ve traveled out side of the south. On the other hand, most deep southerners hear me talk and think I’m not from the south. This was most prevalent when I was in the National Guard. All those deep woods north Mississippi rednecks I was riding in tanks with didn’t know what to make of me…..
Rest assured though, I was born and raised in Memphis. All my family came from Fayette county, the county just east of the one Memphis is in. I am a southerner who prefers Lynyrd Skynyrd to Neil Young any day.
