I just read on my old Knights of Columbus council’s website, that nine-year old Morgan Corbitt passed away yesterday. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.
Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord,
And let perpetual Light shine upon them.
May their souls
And the souls of all the faithful departed
Through the mercy of God
Rest in peace.
Amen.

Yikes! Someone actually reads it? Holy cow!
We had the funeral yesterday afternoon. The church was packed. Shoot, the CHOIR LOFT was packed! Morgan’s class brought up the gifts, and a couple of her fellow Girl Scouts came up at the end of Mass to make some remarks. I knew Morgan was a good kid and full of energy, but I had no idea she touched that many lives.
In his homily, Fr. Martell told a story about when he first arrived at Holy Rosary last year. He was taking a break from moving his stuff in and was walking past the field, where some of the kids in summer camp were playing. Morgan ran up to him, told him it was her birthday and one of the counselors’ birthday, and asked if he would bless them. How many nine-year-olds would even THINK of that?
At the wake, Joe (Morgan’s grandfather) told my mom that one of Morgan’s kidneys was already matched perfectly with someone who needed one. He found it comforting that some good was coming from their loss, and that part of Morgan would continue living on Earth for a while.
Thanks for the update Mark. I wish I could’ve been there.
