Watchmen comic fans, back me up here…..

Is it just me, or does this casting write up on Sci-Fi wire for the up coming Watchmen movie have a major spoiler in it?
I don’t think it’s just me.

The “global catastrophe” part, you mean? I guess, but after all the book is 20 years old. Kind of hard to keep that under wraps. And I always thought that was the weakest part of the book anyway. Intense psychological realism for 11 issues, and then the goofy “here’s how I’m gonna save the world!” reveal.

I’m more inclined to think that the vast majority of people who have not read the novel, don’t know how it ends. This just might ruin it for a lot of folks who are trying to keep up with what’s going on with the movie, but don’t want spoilers.

It’s a bit of a spoiler, but not much. No details are given. Even though I came to the books late and read the last six issues first, it didn’t ruin the first six for me.
Gotta agree that the book ends on too optimistic a note, though. Human nature being what it is, the unity caused by the big boom wouldn’t last.
Anybody want to give odds that they make a few changes to Dr. Manhattan’s costume?
