Another movie?!?

I just think Dune is one of those books that is next to impossible to capture as a movie. We've had two tries...each one had its own successes and its own shortcomings.

I've read the original trilogy but not the rest of the books--well, I've read some of those prequels and found them less than inspiring.

Yeah...That's it. The Lynch version was fun to look at and the SciFi channel's version was interesting to watch. I agree about Sting too. He was awesome in that movie, better than some of the actors...

Wow, I couldn't agree more. I was a big fan of Dune. I read the first trilogy in one giant gulp. All the subsequent books were less impressive (did his son continue the series? Reminds me of the Bourne stories after Ludlum died, but that's another blog, isn't it?).

Anyway, the Lynch movie was typical Lynch--a little "out there" but I thought it was great to look at. It had an amazing cast--and Sting? Great!

The second one followed the story a bit better--who knows, maybe this new project will really capture the imagination the way the books did for me 30 years ago.
