What would your ringtone be?
So what you may not know yet is that I got an iPhone yesterday. That was precipitated by being at a customer site that didn’t provide internet access. There were a number of research items I needed to do on the internet that I couldn’t because of the lack of connectivity from my laptop. That’s how I justified it anyway. 
So one of the cool features of this little gadget is the ability to add custom ringtones to your contacts. The ringtones can be song clips and they can be different for each contact. So I set a ringtone for calls from my wife Suzette to be “Lovesong”, by The Cure. I tweeted about it later and got at least one response from Tupelo Rob with what he had set as his ringtone for his wife Kristen. That got me to thinking that this might be an interesting topic for discussion. So I put it out to you all, what would your custom ringtone be for your spouse or significant other?

My husband’s custom ring tone has been I Want You to Want Me by Cheap Trick, and You’re My Best Friend, by Queen. It’s also been Tainted Love but that was because of a joke and not because of the words of the song or anything.

I actually stole my most recent ring tone way back when Steve Jobs was doing his first demo of the iPhone. I extracted the sound from a video clip of his presentation. Months later when a few co-workers showed off their just released iPhones, I said “wow, your ring tone sounds familiar…” and played it on my cheapo Nextel. The reaction was priceless! (This was before you could put custom ringtones on iPhones)
Prior to that though my Nextel used audio clips from background music in Nintendo games familiar to my kids. They thought it was the coolest thing that my phone played recognizable sounds from MarioKartDS and SuperMarioBros when it rang. (and yes, I did caller specific ring tones…) There are a few samples here. I can’t find all of the others I’ve made over the past couple of years. I’m annoyed my current Nextel phone has made it harder to do…
