I just found Kevin Pollak’s (@kevinpollak) twitter feed through Adam Baldwin (@adamsbaldwin), whose tweets I love to read. I’m really glad I did. He is hilarious! While I’ve admire a lot of the roles he’s played including The Usual Suspects, I have a certain synchronicity involving him that is one of the more amusing experiences I have in my life. It seems that anytime the film She’s All That is on TV, I happen to be channel surfing and land on it at the exact point int he movie where his character is watching Jeopardy and answering all the questions (in the form of a question of course) wrong. I typically laugh until my belly hurts. I’m not really sure why either. It’s not that funny a scene, especially if you’ve already seen it. I guess it’s simply the surreal nature of the whole experience. I’ll probably never know for sure.

None of that really matters though. What matters is that your life is incomplete if you’re not following either one of these guys. So make your life complete…NOW!

Check it out. Here is a screen grab from the Official “Lost” Podcast’s recent behind the scenes vidcast. During the intro with Chris White, you can see a load of “Lost schwag”. But one thing is very out of place……or is it?

You’ll notice I’ve circled what appears to be a Luke and Laura lunchbox. There was a plot line in General Hospital where Luke and Laura were on a tropical island. I really remember it that well since I was a youngster and it was really my grandmother who watched General Hospital, not me….I swear….

Can anyone fill in the blanks on this plot line? Anyone else have any theories as why this lunchbox would be there? I mean c’mon. A “Luke and Laura” lunchbox can’t be that common. They must have put it there on purpose. I’m also not sure what the comic book looking thing is on the top self. Anybody got a clue?

I know I talked bad about this show before it even came out. That was my mistake. Journeyman has been a joy to watch. I really like how they’ve woven the mythology of the time travel into the present day, how Dan’s actions in the past have an impact on his life and his family in the present. Plus, this is one of those shows that just makes you wonder what’s going on, much like Jericho and of course Lost.

I just really hate they’ve decided to cancel. I want to know what’s going on…..

According to Mr. Jay Garmon, Harlan Ellison would the victor if he and James Doohan got into a fist fight.

Ellison also makes an appearance and gets into it a little bit with Scotty in part 5, calling [Trek] ‘a cop show in space.’ I’m wondering who would win in a fist fight between the two.” Given Ellison’s notorious belligerence and Napoleon complex, my money’s on the writer.

I beg to differ. Mr. Doohan was a member of the Royal Canadian Army, landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day and lost a finger in the fighting. I kind of think he would have been more likely to walk away without any limp after that fight.

Now this one at least respects as the woman you’ve become Danica!

“When girls see the antics of Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, they think that being fun and glamorous also means being dumb and irresponsible,” the 32-year-old McKellar told Newsweek for editions to hit newsstands Monday.

“But I want to show them that being smart is cool,” she said. “Being good at math is cool. And not only that, it can help them get what they want out of life.”

To me it’s really refreshing to see her out there trying to be a positive role model. Trying hell, she’s doing it. I really wish she got more press over this. Unfortunately, a story about “some math geek” probably won’t be top on the list of the CNN’s and FoxNews’ of the world. It’s shame.

Now I just want you to read the synopsis froma story on SCIFI.COM about a new series on NBC that will be called Journeyman.

Journeyman stars Kevin McKidd (HBO’s Rome) as Dan Vasser, a newspaper reporter who finds himself inexplicably thrown back into different time periods within his own lifetime. He can’t control when or where he goes, but he seems to have a mission to change the future by affecting the lives of strangers in the past.

Now is it just me, or do I remember the first time this was on TV? Back then I think it was called “Quantum Leap“…..

From the opening dialogue Quantum Leap:

Theorizing that one could time-travel within his own lifetime, Dr. Sam Beckett led an elite group of scientists into the desert, to develop a top-secret project known as Quantum Leap. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Dr. Beckett prematurely stepped into the project accelerator, and vanished…

HM….”within his own lifetime”…..”within his own lifetime”…..

HM indeed…..

If Journeyman goes down the path of saying that some external or supernatural force is guiding the main character through the past to correct things that are going wrong, then we know this really is a rip off.

Well, they came out today. A lot of folks are upset. I’m a little surprised that there weren’t more nominations for Lost. I felt that Matthew Fox deserved a best actor nod for more than one of his performances. I also thought Dominic Monaghan gave more than one nomination worthy supporting actor performances. On the other hand I do agree that Terry O’Quinn and Michael Emmerson deserved the nominations they got. Heck, I don’t care who he’s up against, Michael Emmerson deserves to win. He is just that cool. I’m also surprised that Battlestar Galactica didn’t get any nominations for acting. It is after all the best show on television.

Lost is one of those shows you really have to keep track of. You can’t just start watching in the middle and expect know what the heck’s going on. To be honest, you can’t really expect to watch this show from the beginning and know what’s going on. But if you don’t do that, then you’re really LOST. For instance, the show revolves around an island. We don’t really know where this island is, but our heroes (or are they our heroes?) are survivors of Oceanic flight 815 which crashed on the island (or did it?). As new characters have been introduced over the past three seasons, you see the crash from their point of view. Well, it’s amazing how it changes your perspective if you look at all these scenes in chronological order. That’s what someone has made possible with the following video. I’m giving you fair spoiler waning here too. If you do not watch the show, this video could ruin certain aspects of the plot for you.

There’s even more after the jump…..Major spoilers ahead for that though.

Another plot twist we Lost fans were presented with recently was the admission by Naomi that flight 815 had been found on the bottom of the ocean. Everyone was dead. Well, some fans put together a little video of news clips reporting this “discovery”. Keep in mind that this is not “canon”, that means it is not really a part of the fiction if that makes any sense. It’s just something some fans did for fun.

So Suzette and I are sitting there eating our Dinner. We were having Taco Bell and generally enjoying the food, each other’s company and Jeopardy. That was all ruined when the phone rang. On the other end was someone with what was certainly a far eastern accent trying to sell me Dish Network. Now that alone is not enough to upset me. If I let it really bother me every time someone called during dinner to sell me something, I would spend most of my life bothered. That’s not something I want. No, what got me really bothered was this. While I was desperately trying to say my “good-byes” and “do not call lists” to the guy, the call waiting beeped. If you haven’t guessed it yet, the other phone call was…..oh yes it was…..another accent…another interruption……another Dish Network sale pitch.

Now let me be quite clear on this. I am not in the market for satellite TV. If however I do decide to replace the cable service with something more extra-terrestrial, it’ll be that much harder for Dish Network to earn my business.

I posted something last week about Niki from Heroes. It was really meant to be a joke, but my buddy Mark made a comment that got me to thinking.

The producers have said that each powered individual on the show only has one inherent power. That is to say for instance Sylar has the ability to graft on to his brain the powers of others. Those powers he steals are not inherent to him though. At the same time, Peter’s empathic powers allow him to take on other’s abilities when he comes into contact with them. The point is though that both of them only have one inherent power. It also seem obvious that the specific powers everyone take on are influenced by who they are. For instance Peter’s empathy is something that is a part of his personality and the way he leads his life. Sylar’s ability to figure out how things work in another powered person’s brain seems to be influenced by his chosen profession as a watchmaker. Hiro’s power could well be influenced by his love for SciFi and comic books.

Now here’s the thing, Jessica and Niki are two individuals. They were twin sisters and since the powers on the show are genetic, isn’t not only possible but probable that they both had (have) powers? Hear me out… It seems that Niki’s power is some sort of super strength/endurance. I say it’s Niki’s because we know the powers are “in the brain” since Sylar “looks” at the brain to “figure out how it works”. We also know that Jessica’s body is buried, along with her brain. Niki’s power could’ve developed as a defense mechanism to her father’s abuse. I can see that. But what if Jessica also developed a power in response to her father’s abuse? What if her power was some sort of projection, something that would allow her to leave her body when she was being abused? Eventually she might have been able to enter someone else’s body. The first time she entered her sister’s body to protet her while their father was abusing Niki, she was probably surprised at how strong she was. She could have used that strength to fight off their father to protect Niki. The problem is that this made their father focus his abuse on Jessica, since he was probably now afraid of Niki and what he knew she could do to him. So what do you think would happen if Jessica was “projected” into Niki on that day she died? It’s something to think about.

USAToday has the story of how ABC and the producers of Lost have announced the last episode, which will air in 2010.

The end is in sight for ABC’s acclaimed island mystery Lost, but fans will have to wait until 2010 for all the answers.

I actually kind of like this idea. I think it works for a show like Lost because it will give the producers a solid timeframe for building out the rest of and finishing the story. They have said from the beginning that Lost is not like shows like Desperate Housewives or ER in that they are here to tell a story. From the beginning, they knew this story had a start and finish. Once you reach that finish line, you are truly at the end.

It reminds me somewhat of Babylon 5. When JMS started Babylon 5, he had 5 seasons worth of story to tell. Keep in mind what I just said, I said “story”, not “stories”. He knew the basics of the story, including the end when he started. It had to develop overtime, but it still followed the same outline. The same seems to be true with Lost. I think setting a target end date give the writers and the producers the opportunity to the story on their own terms. It allows them to create their peaks and valleys in the plot as needed to tell the story right.

To be honest, I’m even more excited now than I was before hearing this.

A new video production is releasing it’s first episode tomorrow called “That Catholic Show”. It’s a joint venture by the Rosary Army and SQPN. I enjoy most of SQPN’s stuff and I love listening to the Rosary Army podcast. I can’t wait to see this. Here’s a little blurb from the SQPN site.

‘That Catholic Show’, a new and exciting Video Podcast will launch on Monday, April 30!

‘That Catholic Show’, a brand new video production of the Rosary Army and SQPN and presented by Jennifer Willits, helps you discover the Catholic faith in a fresh, fun way. So subscribe to the new show, and tell your friends and family about it!

The site for the new show can be found here. They’ve got feeds!

What follows is a press release put out by the shows producers.

Rosary Army and SQPN Launch “That Catholic Show” Video Series
4/30/2007 – 12:00 EST
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEDIA ADVISORY

CONYERS, GA – The Internet’s most popular portal for Catholic podcasts has teamed up with another apostolate known for their dedication to spreading the Catholic faith to produce “That Catholic Show,” a fun and different way of looking at Catholicism.

“That Catholic Show,” a different and often surprising view of Catholicism, is a 5 minute video series available for free download via the Internet.

The new series is co-produced by the Star Quest Production Network ( SQPN.com) and Rosary Army (www.RosaryArmy.com), an apostolate dedicated to spreading the Catholic faith.

The premiere episode debuts on the SQPN and Rosary Army websites on April 30, 2007 and asks the burning question, “Do you ever wonder why Catholics sit, stand, and kneel so much?”

Not Your Typical Boring Religious Program
“Our goal is to take away some of the mystique and misconceptions people often have with Catholicism,” says Greg Willits, co-creator and director of the series. “There are so many fun and interesting things about our faith, and we wanted to present these topics in a way that even non-Christian audiences would appreciate.”

Taking a cue from popular cable channels such as Food Network and HGTV, the Willits’ have created a show that handles unique topics with a light touch, making them immediately accessible.

“What we hope we’ve accomplished is to make a show that can be used to kick off discussions for RCIA classes, for LifeTeen groups, and for general conversations about Catholicism,” says Rosary Army co-founder and show host Jennifer Willits.

Catholicism Like You’ve Never Seen Before
“Dynamic and different Catholic content is hard to come by,” says Greg Willits. “But we believe there is a need for this kind of exciting media. We heard Pope John Paul II’s call for a New Evangelization, and this is how we’re trying to answer.”

“That Catholic Show” is also available for free download from YouTube.com and Apple’s iTunes Podcast Directory.

About Rosary Army:
Rosary Army Corp. is a 501(c)3 non-profit apostolate dedicated to making, praying, and giving away all-twine knotted Rosaries and encouraging others to do the same. Founded on Good Friday 2003, the apostolate now has a worldwide active community that helps spread devotion to Jesus through the use of the Rosary.

In 2005 Rosary Army expanded to include podcasting to its growing array of dynamic content available from www.RosaryArmy.com. The podcast was named Best General Podcast during the 2006 People’s Choice Podcast Awards.

About the Star Quest Production Network:
SQPN (Star Quest Production Network) is a multimedia organization specializing in the production of audio and video programs faithful to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Its mission is to respond to the Church’s call to use the media for religious information, for evangelization and catechesis and for formation and education.

SQPN (http://www.SQPN.com) produces on-demand audio and video programs, also known as podcasts, and offers a portal for a select number of affiliated Catholic podcasters that share the vision and media strategy of SQPN.

It sounds like a great show not only for Catholics, but also for people who are curious about Catholicism. I encourage everyone to go take a look at it and give it a chance. The Rosary Army podcasts are a joy to listen to and I can only imagine that this new video show will be fun to watch.

SCI FI Channel has increased its episode order for the fourth season of Battlestar Galactica to 22 from the original 13

But what’s my opinion? Well, I think Saul Tigh says it best when he says:

CRAAAAAAPPPPP!!!!!

I was actually pleased with the idea of only having 13 episodes. I really feel this show’s at it’s best when it’s going for quality, not quantity. There have been some pretty bad “filler” episodes this season. I personally would rather not have to deal with those and just get on with the story. I guess it’s pretty obvious that the whole 13/22 episode episode has just been a bargaining ploy…..

UPDATE:

2008????

You mean we gotta wait 10+ months to not find out what’s going on????

CRAAAPPPP!!!!!!!!
