“That Catholic Show” Episode #8 - I Confess

Here’s another great episode of “That Catholic Show” covering the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Please visit the SQPN site for more info on and episodes of “That Catholic Show“.

For more information on the topic, Catholic Answers has tract on the teachings of the Church Fathers on the subject. They also have a tract that is generally discussed the Catholic teachings on the forgiveness of sins.

What’s the deal with MacOS X and file extensions?

After watching Cliff Ravenscraft’s latest Mac rant, I had to respond.

Click here is the video Cliff posted.

I’m not really sure what an obvious bug in Garageband has to do with the ability or lack there of of the operating system MacOS X. I tried the same experiment, but took it a little farther.

Click here to see my video.

I think my video shows that what Cliff found not proof that all us Mac people are liars, but rather that at worst there is some kind of bug in Garageband. On the other hand, since some folks are reporting that the capitalized extension issue does not manifest itself when they try it, it might actually be expected behavior and Cliff and I have some setting configured that makes it happen.

I’d like to hear if anyone know why this happens in Garageband or if it happening to you. Please feel free to comment.

Housekeeping at Wild Tangents

I just cleaned up the style sheet a little bit. I changed the unvisited links to the same color that visited links used to be. I then changed the visited link color to something that looks a little more orange to me.

I also put that horrible picture of me that I use everywhere up in the upper right hand corner. That way you might recognized me when you visit here, if you’ve seen one of my comments or otherwise noticed my presence somewhere else.

I’m also going to to be working on the “about” page. Don’t expect it soon, but know that I am working on it.

“The Catholic Hack”, a great new Catholic podcast

There a great new Catholic podcast out there on the apologetics front. It’s called “The Catholic Hack” and done by a guy by the name of Joe McClane. He apparently goes out to his van on his lunch break to record this every week. While he calls himself a “hack”, I find his podcast very enlightening. Joe also speaks with a passion that inspires. He uses Sacred Scripture and the catechism to nail his points home.

Click here to visit his site.

Below you an listen to a promo he’s done. I encourage anyone out there that doesn’t know much about Catholicism, or thinks they know plenty to have a listen.

SQPN meetup (with pictures)

This past Monday, the folks at SQPN had their bard of directors meeting in Conyers, GA. Since they had some many of the podcasters in one place, they organized a meetup. It was setup for 5:30-7:30 at the Kaiteur Coffeehouse in Conyers. Being the fool I am, I drove the four hours down to Atlanta to attend. It tunred out not to be foolish at all. Everyone was very friendly and gracious I had taken the time to drive down.

Maria Johnson was kind enough to take some photos for me since i was having trouble with Suzette’s camera. Here they are:

Me and Fr. Roderick

This is me with Fr. Roderick, the founder of SQPN and a podcaster with many shows. He’s probably most known for first the Catholic Insider, then his Daily Breakfast. I never go a day with Fr. Roderick’s Daily Breakfast. I’m still confused though. Is he really Mormon?

Me and Fr. Bill

This is me with Fr. Bill Kessler, who does the Technopriest podcast. It’s always interesting to hear his comments on life as an over-worked pastor who has a gadget obsession. I have to say though, the best part are the homilies. The man can write some awesome homilies.

Me and the Willits

Here I am with Greg and Jennifer Willits. They the Rosary Army podcast. Jennifer is also the host of That Catholic Show, which Greg produces.

If you haven’t seen That Catholic Show, click on the name and go check it out. Greg, Jennifer and everyone else involved do a wonderful job with it.

Me, Mac and Greg

Since I’ve been in every picture, you already know me. You also just saw Greg in the last shot. But the guy in the middle is guy who forgot the microphones. He’s Mac Barron. He and his wife do the podcast Catholic in a Small Town. It’s one of the funniest podcasts I listen to. Mac and Katherine are a hoot to chat with and are just a funny in real life as they are on the podcast.

Not pictured….And I don’t know how we missed out on this….But I didn’t get a picture with Paul Camarata of the SaintCast. Paul does a great job of letting us know about the saints in way that’s easy to understand and inspiring, as the saints should be. He travels some too and will do “sound seeing tours” of sites such as churches where he goes.

I did get a couple of humorous pics on the trip too.

Here’s one of Fr. Roderick trying to tune in to the latest episode of “Lost”.

Fr. Roerick bunny ears

Here’s one I took at a rest stop on the way back. It just struck me as odd. I guess they must have had a lot of problems with dogs doing their business on the hydrant.

no pets?

Anyway, I had a great time. If there was any way I could’ve gone without driving in Atlanta traffic, then it would’ve been perfect. I want to thank everyone at SQPN for being so friendly and gracious.

Catholic Tube

Braves cap tip to The Curt Jester for posting about “Catholic Tube“. He says:

They have categorized it into several channels such as apologetics, EWTN, The Catholic Show / Rosary Army Channel, etc. Also the home page has a video of the day.

He also mentions they have an RSS feed. How cool is that?

Cool pencil carvings

I’ve seen people “whittle” and I’ve seen wood carving that look like real life. But I can’t really say I’ve seen anything like this, which you should certainly check out. A guy has made some very detailed carvings out of pencils. More than one of them made me wonder, “how did they do that!?!?”

Speaking of rednecks, I hope this doesn’t mean I have to turn in my membership card

I just took this test. The results are below. Since it’s described as a racism test, I guess it means I hate “white people”. I’m not sure.

Racism

I guess it makes sense in way since the wife isn’t “white”, but the mom is…..I just don’t know…..

You might be a redneck if….

You really upset the guy in mobile home next door and he gets out his back hoe and does this to your pick-up truck.
