After watching Cliff Ravenscraft’s latest Mac rant, I had to respond.

Click here is the video Cliff posted.

I’m not really sure what an obvious bug in Garageband has to do with the ability or lack there of of the operating system MacOS X. I tried the same experiment, but took it a little farther.

Click here to see my video.

I think my video shows that what Cliff found not proof that all us Mac people are liars, but rather that at worst there is some kind of bug in Garageband. On the other hand, since some folks are reporting that the capitalized extension issue does not manifest itself when they try it, it might actually be expected behavior and Cliff and I have some setting configured that makes it happen.

I’d like to hear if anyone know why this happens in Garageband or if it happening to you. Please feel free to comment.

I also put that horrible picture of me that I use everywhere up in the upper right hand corner. That way you might recognized me when you visit here, if you’ve seen one of my comments or otherwise noticed my presence somewhere else.

There a great new Catholic podcast out there on the apologetics front. It’s called “The Catholic Hack” and done by a guy by the name of Joe McClane. He apparently goes out to his van on his lunch break to record this every week. While he calls himself a “hack”, I find his podcast very enlightening. Joe also speaks with a passion that inspires. He uses Sacred Scripture and the catechism to nail his points home.

Click here to visit his site.

Below you an listen to a promo he’s done. I encourage anyone out there that doesn’t know much about Catholicism, or thinks they know plenty to have a listen.

This past Monday, the folks at SQPN had their bard of directors meeting in Conyers, GA. Since they had some many of the podcasters in one place, they organized a meetup. It was setup for 5:30-7:30 at the Kaiteur Coffeehouse in Conyers. Being the fool I am, I drove the four hours down to Atlanta to attend. It tunred out not to be foolish at all. Everyone was very friendly and gracious I had taken the time to drive down.

Maria Johnson was kind enough to take some photos for me since i was having trouble with Suzette’s camera. Here they are:

This is me with Fr. Roderick, the founder of SQPN and a podcaster with many shows. He’s probably most known for first the Catholic Insider, then his Daily Breakfast. I never go a day with Fr. Roderick’s Daily Breakfast. I’m still confused though. Is he really Mormon?

This is me with Fr. Bill Kessler, who does the Technopriest podcast. It’s always interesting to hear his comments on life as an over-worked pastor who has a gadget obsession. I have to say though, the best part are the homilies. The man can write some awesome homilies.

Here I am with Greg and Jennifer Willits. They the Rosary Army podcast. Jennifer is also the host of That Catholic Show, which Greg produces.

If you haven’t seen That Catholic Show, click on the name and go check it out. Greg, Jennifer and everyone else involved do a wonderful job with it.

Since I’ve been in every picture, you already know me. You also just saw Greg in the last shot. But the guy in the middle is guy who forgot the microphones. He’s Mac Barron. He and his wife do the podcast Catholic in a Small Town. It’s one of the funniest podcasts I listen to. Mac and Katherine are a hoot to chat with and are just a funny in real life as they are on the podcast.

Not pictured….And I don’t know how we missed out on this….But I didn’t get a picture with Paul Camarata of the SaintCast. Paul does a great job of letting us know about the saints in way that’s easy to understand and inspiring, as the saints should be. He travels some too and will do “sound seeing tours” of sites such as churches where he goes.

I did get a couple of humorous pics on the trip too.

Here’s one of Fr. Roderick trying to tune in to the latest episode of “Lost”.

Here’s one I took at a rest stop on the way back. It just struck me as odd. I guess they must have had a lot of problems with dogs doing their business on the hydrant.

Anyway, I had a great time. If there was any way I could’ve gone without driving in Atlanta traffic, then it would’ve been perfect. I want to thank everyone at SQPN for being so friendly and gracious.

He also mentions they have an RSS feed. How cool is that?

This morning Greg Willits put out the call on Twitter to get together on Ustream and pray a rosary. It was really enjoyable to get online and pray with others all around the world. People would post their intentions in the chat window and Greg would announce them. I hope we’ll be doing this more often. Maybe the torch could pass around for the leader of the prayer. I would be happy to lead an online rosary some time. I’m sure there are other out there that would too. What say you? Anyone else want to continue what Greg has started?

Do you have a Kroger card, an Office Depot card and a Best Buy card padding your wallet with all the other club cards from retailers? Me too….

Someone just smart and got rid of all of them. What they have is a website where you can enter up to eight of the club membership numbers. Press a button and you can print out your new single card. I’m planning on having mine laminated. Here’s the directions from the site….

# Choose 8 or less of your favorite clubs cards.
# Find the barcode on each club card (usually on the back)
# Locate the numbers right under the barcode and type them into the barcode number box.(Make sure to include any numbers to the right or left of the bar code itself, even if they don’t line up with the main row of numbers.)
# Choose a store from one of the choices in the “Store” dropdown. If you don’t see the store you need check the FAQ first, then email me to add it.
# When you have finished filling out the boxes, click the “Create your card” button.
# Print out the generated card and follow the instructions to create a new card containing all of your favorite club cards.

Is that genius or what? Go make your own combo card.

A while back I talked about my visit to New Jersey (at the time I thought it was part of New England, little did I know it wasn’t). One thing I didn’t mention was the crazy directions I would get to go places from my hotel. I was there over a weekend, so I had to find a Mass to go to. The directions to the closest Catholic church the concierge attendant gave me seemed to have me going in circles. I mean I was literally on the same highway twice, each time going the opposite direction as the other time. But I got there and realized that the only way for me to get there was by following hat seemed like crazy directions at the time. I get the idea that this is common in the Garden State. Since that was my only trip though, I don’t know for sure.

Somehow though, I do believe Google maps has an issue in at least one part of the state. I say that because this is way too much. In some places just one U-Turn is illegal.

It was two years ago today that I made my first post over at Thicke.org. I had been doing a little bit on blogger, but nothing really serious. Well, I guess you could say I’m still not serious. Anyway, this was back in a time when we still lived in Memphis. We had actualyl come up to Nashville for Thanksgiving. I can remember being hunkered over my mom’s computer installing WordPress while everyone else napped. It’s been a long strange trip since then.

Go see the First post! at Thicke.org.

In honor of the occasion, I’d like to link to the blogs of few friends of mine. I call it a thank you for inspiration.

Father Bryan Timby
Patrick Gallagher
Dennis Schenkel

Mark and Father Timby I know well. Dennis and Patrick I’ve never met, but I think of them as friends anyway. They’re just that cool.
