Best blueberry muffin evar!

Since I seem to rarely blog, especially when out of town, it should b quite clear by the fact that I am blogging about this muffin that it’s awesome.

I’m at the airport in Pittsburgh right now. I waited too long to get the complimentary breakfast in the concierge lounge at the hotel, so I decided to just get something at the airport. Typically this is a bad decision. Today it really paid off. I went to Au Bon Pain, since I hate the coffee shop they have here at the airport. I was just going to get a croissant and coffee, but for some reason the blueberry muffins just looked so good. I don’t know what it was about them that first caught my eye. They were behind a transparent plastic, so the image of them wasn’t clear. One thing that perhaps did make them stand out the odd shape. They were really more square that they were round. If this was done by Au Bob Pain as a marketing ploy, it very well may have worked in my case. I went ahead and put one in my bag, even though I was just expecting your typical dry, bland blueberry muffin.

When I go to my table, I even ate the croissant first. To be honest, it was mediocre at best. I am picky about my croissants. I almost didn’t even eat the muffin. But I did. I was hungry. Boy, am I glad I did. This was one awesome muffin. It had a very thin layer of crispiness covering the inner goodness. It was very moist and fluffy inside, just as it should be. It was also packed full of blueberries. There had to be at least half again as many as you get with your typical muffin. In all honesty, as I sit here about twenty minutes after eating it, I can only think of one thing wrong with it. That one thing is the fact that it’s gone.

I think I’ll stop blogging now and go get another one.

Is Est Dolus!

Someone thought it would be cute to do up some scenes from the Star Wars movies in Latin. It is cute. Get it, “The Empire” and “Roman Empire”. But the sound quality is really bad. You have been warned. Press play if you really want to.

New Stevenote today….

Well, what an anti-climax today was. The only real big announcements made were complete duds.

First we have Safari browser for Windows. This has got to be the biggest “what were they thinking?” moment for me since Palm announced the Foleo. I mean really. I’m a die hard Mac user and I don’t use Safari. What makes anyone at Apple think that Windows users will convert in droves to Safari? Most of the people who would even have a clue what they doing by installing Safari on their PC would probably already be hooked on Firefox, or maybe Opera.

The other biggie was that there would be a way for third party developers to develop apps for the iPhone. They would have hooks that would allow access to functions on the phone. So basically the answer is that you can develop apps for that sub-par browser I just mentioned and that’s your way to put your own apps on the iPhone. My first thought was that it was a real cop out. My second thought was that anyone who develops…..at all…..would realize this already. I’m not sure why it was even a topic for discussion at this. It was jsut very disappointing.

A few other things of note were of course the previews for Leopard and some gaming news. The Leopard previews were really cool. I’m really looking forward to it. It doesn’t come out until October though. Apple recently announced that it was delayed due to having to shift some resources from Mac OS development to iPhone development. It makes me wonder where the resources to port Safari to Windows came from. The gaming news was that two major gaming players (sorry, couldn’t resist), EA and ID would start producing Mac versions of their games. This is a good thing. Even with the new version of Parallels that allows for 3DFX support for Windows VMs, I would still much rather play games in the native OS.

Overall though, I considered this Stevenote to be rather lame. To think, I could have spent that time getting a cavity drilled or something along those lines instead of sitting at my desk waiting for MacRumorsLive to refresh. All the Twitter conversation was fun though.

Speaking of rednecks, I hope this doesn’t mean I have to turn in my membership card

I just took this test. The results are below. Since it’s described as a racism test, I guess it means I hate “white people”. I’m not sure.

Racism

I guess it makes sense in way since the wife isn’t “white”, but the mom is…..I just don’t know…..

$400 haircut, heck I haven’t even spent $14 for a haircut

Right leaning people everywhere are making light of the fact that presidential candidate John Edwards has spent $400 for a haircut.

Somehow I don’t think my haircutting habits would float in the presidential race either. As the wife keeps reminding me, I need a haircut really bad. So it seems that while John Edwards is willing to pay $400 for a cut and style, I won’t even pay $14…

NEWS FLASH!!!! Britney calls it quits for sure with K-Fed now!

If anyone had any hope that Britney and Kevin would be getting back together, that hope is smothered now.
From the article:

Britney Spears has removed K-Fed from her MySpace friends list.

Being removed from someone’s Myspace friend list is the end of the world. I know this for a fact because I was removed Avil Lavigne’s list. It hurt so bad. I thought I would never be able to move on. But eventually I got to be added to the friend list for Murphy’s Bar in Memphis. Now I can drown all my sorrows in nice pint of Guinness.

Why Eccleson quit Doctor Who

I had no idea the English northerners were as serious about being northern as us American southerners are about being southern. It might be hard to follow some of the humor here unless you’re a fan of British Sci-Fi and Star Trek. In case you don’t get it, it’s marvelous.

The bit about the Ferengi ears had me on the floor rolling…..

Anyway, I’m can’t really say I was sorry to see him go, especially now that David Tennant has shown himself to be so excellent in the role. It’s not some much I didn’t like Eccleson, I just feel he didn’t bring any real eccentric magic tot he character.

Best thing to do to telemarketers? Make it too terrifying for them to call you

It’s odd. I work for a company that makes it’s money off call centers. Granted the majority of our customers are not telemarketers, but some are. Even still, I hate them all with a passion. No, I don’t hate the people that call. I don’t hate any person. But I do hate the companies they work for. So I have to say I was more than a little amused to hear this one guys treatment of a telemarketer who called his house. Now some people might think the treatment is a little harsh, but anyone who intrudes into someone else’s home is asking for trouble anyway.

Before you click on the link below, be aware that the audio is somewhat “PG-13″ and is probably NSFW. But then again, you should be working at work and not reading my blog!
